Method

  1. 1Rub the fish pieces with turmeric and salt.
  2. 2Roast dried red chillies and coriander seeds till fragrant.
  3. 3Grind grated coconut with the roasted spices, garlic and tamarind to a paste.
  4. 4Heat coconut oil and fry sliced onion till golden.
  5. 5Add curry leaves and the ground coconut paste.
  6. 6Cook the masala on low till the raw smell goes.
  7. 7Pour in water for a medium gravy and bring to a boil.
  8. 8Season with salt and simmer a few minutes.
  9. 9Slide in the fish and cook 10 minutes without stirring hard.
  10. 10Swirl the pan so the gravy coats the fish.
  11. 11Finish with a mustard and curry-leaf tempering.
  12. 12Serve hot with rice or neer dosa.
