Method

  1. 1Soak chana dal for 30 minutes and drain.
  2. 2Mix rice flour, roasted gram flour, sesame seeds and the soaked dal.
  3. 3Add crushed peanuts, chilli powder, asafoetida, curry leaves and salt.
  4. 4Rub in hot oil, then knead with water into a stiff dough.
  5. 5Pinch small balls and flatten each thinly on a greased sheet.
  6. 6Prick all over with a fork to stop puffing.
  7. 7Heat oil and deep-fry the discs on medium until golden and crisp.
  8. 8Drain on paper, cool completely and store airtight.
